Cerrillo sets record for 1K

Matilda Torres’ Sabrina Cerrillo drives the lane to score her 1,000th and 1,001st points in her career in Friday’s win over McLane. Cerrillo scored 32 points in the victory.

Matilda Torres Toros’ Sabrina Cerrillo needed 31 points to reach 1,000 points for  her career, a significant milestone for any high school player.

Earlier in the week, Cerrillo was standing at 56 points. She scored 13 in Mondays win over Madera South and 12 in a loss to Fresno on Wednesday.

Thus, she added 31 to hit 1,000 points and head coach Jose Villalobos, and her team, wanted her to do it Friday night at home against the McLane Highlanders.
