CalRTA meets with city manager

For The Madera Tribune

City Manager Arnoldo Rodriguez, center, meets with members of California Retired Teachers Association.

Arnoldo Rodriguez, City Manager for the City of Madera, provided an audience of retired teachers an information-rich presentation on what’s happening in the city.

CalRTA (California Retired Teachers Association) meets every other month at the John Wells Center. The group raises funds to provide scholarships for graduating seniors in Madera County. In addition, they provide Target gift cards for classroom purchases to teachers in the county whose names are drawn, the idea being to let current teachers know there is an organization just for them when it comes time to retire.

Those fortunate to have attended Wednesday found out about improvements happening in Madera, such as adding sidewalks, improving city parks, providing solar-powered streetlights, and more. In addition, Rodriguez identified one of Madera’s serious infrastructure problems — our aging sewer lines carrying raw sewage to the wastewater treatment plant west of the city.
