‘Blown-away’
Veterans’ Voices is directed toward veterans and their families who have given so much to ensure our freedom in this country. This is an area where you may share your experiences, or read of other veterans’ experiences. We thank you for your service, and hope that you know how much you are loved and appreciated.
I have been helping veterans for more than 50 years as a way of giving back because of my close brothers who did not make it back home when I was in Vietnam. They paid the ultimate price.
I have helped hundreds of veterans with their disability claims, gone to their houses and helped them with different chores, done small repairs when I was able to, and what ever I can do for my brothers and sisters. I enjoy doing it, as it gives me a good feeling that I have made the day easier for them. They all think I do it just for them, but it helps me more.
Since the first of the year, I have started a new program. I call it the “red, white and blue project.” The reason I started this program is because I saw a faded and ripped flag on a house here in Madera last month.
