Arc honors consumer council

The Arc Fresno/Madera Counties recognized past Consumer Advocacy Committee representatives and installed new representatives on July 12. Representatives gathered for a photo op during a luncheon at Yosemite Falls Cafe.

The Arc Fresno/Madera Counties recently recognized Consumer Advocacy Councilmembers for their outstanding service, tireless advocacy, and constant support for individuals with developmental disabilities.

The Arc of Fresno and Madera Counties enables individuals with an intellectual and developmental disability to achieve greater independence by enriching their lives through everyday life experiences in a supportive environment.

The people served by The Arc always come first. They are the single most important aspect of the organization and without them, the Arc would have no reason to exist. They believe that people with an intellectual and developmental disability have unlimited potential and the right to the same opportunities, dignity, and respect as everyone else.

The Arc Fresno/Madera Counties Consumer Advocacy Council takes a comprehensive look at the needs of individuals with developmental and Intellectual disabilities in their state or territory and develops a plan of action to promote self-determination, integration, and inclusion.

Most importantly, Consumer Advocacy Councils bring the voices of individuals with disabilities to the policymakers whose decisions impact their lives.
