Fireworks display remains on hold
The city’s annual fireworks display, put on hold last year due to budget reasons, will remain on hold as well for this year, according to Joseph Carrello, the city’s communications director.
“At this time, the event remains postponed indefinitely, Carrello said. “The City of Madera continues to focus on demonstrating fiscal accountability, as was underscored at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, where a balanced budget was brought before the Council.
“As always, we encourage residents to celebrate the 4th of July safely, with only authorized “safe and sane” fireworks. The Madera Police Department will be increasing patrol in an effort to help minimize the fire danger illegal fireworks pose.”
