CMAC leaders topple young Stallions

The Madera South Stallions’ girls soccer team was unable to rescue a result against the Edison-Fresno Tigers in a 4-0 loss at Memorial Stadium.
So far this season, the Stallions have been unable to make the most of their chances in the County/Metro Athletic Conference. During their 2018-19 campaign, they have gone winless against CMAC opponents.
For Madera South, it’s not about heart or hustle, it’s about youth. The Stallions have a squad primarily of younger players.
The Stallions have 13 players that are either sophomores or freshman. Compared to their three seniors and five juniors.
Edison, on the other hand, are contenders right now. The Tigers have the strongest conference record at 5-1 and are playing some of the best soccer in the CMAC.
Two goals from Abigail Borchers, and a goal from Elisabeth Romero and Jillyan Castro helped the first-place Tigers ride into Madera for another win Jan. 22.
After Edison dropped a CMAC clash with Bullard, they responded the only way they’ve shown so far this season — with a win.
The Tigers also had four different players record an assist. Teresa Quintero, Borchers, Ariana Fischer and Valeria Quintero were instrumental in Edison’s win. Whether it was out on the wing, or inside the heart of the pitch, Edison were pulling strings all evening.
Edison controlled the entirety of the game after two goals in each half stung and kept the Stallions at bay.
Madera South couldn’t find the rhythm necessary to break down Edison’s defense.
Edison goalkeeper Anahi Martinez faced a single shot all night. Her defensive wall did their job as they swallowed up and spit out any ball that came their way.
Madera South faced the same issues when they faced Madera in their previous match.
For Edison, they faced the same amount of intensity as they were able to execute their game plan with ease.
