Astronomers offer a chance to stargaze
Madera Tribune File Photo Members of the Central Valley Astronomers club of Fresno set up telescopes for a star party last year in Madera.
Members of Central Valley Astronomers, Inc., will present a star party Friday evening at Madera Municipal Golf Course, sponsored by Friends of the Madera County Library.
This will be the second such party in a year. The one last year was held on the roof of the parking structure of the Madera County Government Center. It is being held this year at the golf course, where there are fewer lights, and thus less “light pollution” to interfere with viewing.
The Madera Municipal Golf Course is at 23200 Avenue 17, just off Avenue 17 at Road 23.
Signups are required at the Madera County Library to give sponsors an idea of how many will attend.
Participants and stargazers are invited to bring folding chairs and/or blankets. Admittance will be free.
Registration is under way now.
Patrons may register by calling Yvette at 675-7873.
The Madera Public Library is at 121 N. G St.
