Donald A. Promnitz/The Madera Tribune Airplanes fly in formation over Madera Municipal Airport during the annual West Coast Formation Flying Clinic in at the Madera Municipal Airport over the weekend.
Pilots from across the country flocked to Madera to practice their formation flying and get together for the West Coast Formation Clinic’s annual meet.
The Saturday meet at the Madera Municipal Airport, saw more than 50 pilots, coming from as far as Seattle and Kansas City arrive.
According to West Coast Formation Clinic spokesman David Richardson, the pilots, who are formation flyers, were meeting to “knock off the rust” and tune up their skills, as well as well as socialize. To do this, they flew in formation, and performed various aeronautical stunts and manuvers in the air. Their practice, Richardson said, was done in accordance to Formation Flying Incorporated guidelines.
