Victim fatally stabbed 20 times

A suspect has been arraigned, and awaits a preliminary setting, after he reportedly stabbed a woman to death in Oakhurst.

At the Madera County Superior Court, the suspect, George L. Taylor-Windsor, 26, of Sacramento, was ordered on Thursday to return on Nov. 21 for his bail review and preliminary setting with Madera County Judge Dale J. Blea. The case will then be transferred to the Madera County Superior Courthouse in Bass Lake.

“I’m very concerned that this case occurred in Madera County, even though it involved individuals from another area of the state,” said Madera County District Attorney David A. Linn. “We will prosecute this case very vigorously.”

Winsdor has been accused of killing Jessica Nelson, 23, of Sacramento. According to Linn, Windsor was riding with the victim, the driver, Reid Kallenberg, 32, and another passenger when a dispute broke out. It is at this point, Linn stated, that Windsor drew a knife and began to stab both Nelson, and Kallenberg. Nelson died on the scene, and Kallenberg was hospitalized. An autopsy on Nelson revealed that she had been stabbed 20 times in the neck and abdomen.

Both Windsor and Kallenberg, and the passenger in back, were working for a company that had been tasked with removing hazardous trees in Madera County.

An accident involving the vehicle had occurred during the stabbing incident as well.

After the stabbing took place, Windsor reportedly fled the scene of the crime to a nearby residence claiming distress. According to Madera County Sheriff’s Cmdr. Bill Ward, he was arrested within a half-mile of the crime scene by the Major Crimes Unit.

Windsor is currently being held in Madera County jail on charges of murder and attempted murder. If convicted, he could face 30 years to life in prison.

Windor’s bail has been set at $2.1 million.
