Detectives of the Madera County Sheriff’s Office are searching for the perpetrator of a fatal stabbing that took place in Oakhurst.
Jacob Henderson, 45, of Oakhurst, was riding a motorcycle with friends on Saturday afternoon, when they stopped at a parking lot near the Oakroom Bar at 40807 Highway 41, according to Madera County District Attorney David A. Linn. Around 2:50, the suspect reportedly pulled a knife, and fatally stabbed Henderson.
The first deputy to arrive, according to Madera County Sheriff’s Cmdr. Bill Ward, got there within minutes of the stabbing, and is reported to have found bystanders performing CPR on the victim. Henderson, however, died on the scene.
“My office is very interested in this crime due to the fact that it occurred in Oakhurst, which has not had a murder for a significant period of time,” Linn said.
According to Ward, no arrests have been made, but all possible leads are being investigated. “Our detectives are interviewing people,” Ward said. “And are actively investigating.”
In addition, investigators from the Madera County District Attorney’s Office, and the California Highway Patrol, have been called in to assist.
People with any information on the stabbing are encouraged to contact the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at 675-7770, or Valley Crimestoppers at 498-STOP.
