High school bands to battle

Ten high school bands from around the San Joaquin Valley will engage in head-to-head competition from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight during the Heart of California Tournament of Champions in Memorial Stadium.

The competitors will include the Madera and Madera South high school bands in their first show of the competition season “and also their biggest fundraiser of the year,” according to Gloria Garcia of Madera Unified School District. “It will be a very exciting competition!”

Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, and free for children 5 or younger. All proceeds will benefit the band programs at both MHS and MSHS.
