Madera has a reputation for “growing” great runners. Look at the many Central Section championship plaques at Madera, Madera South and Matilda Torres high schools.
However, none of those schools boast someone who is going to do what Madera’s Christian Johnson is attempting to do — run 50 kilometers in seven consecutive days on seven different continents. When Johnson completes the task, he will become the first male in the world to do it, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Johnson begins his run on November 15 and finishes on November 21.
“I’m going with a company, Great World Race,” Johnson said. “They do a marathon in every continent in seven days. I saw them on social media over a year ago and thought it was a cool idea.
