CHP Madera officers responded to reports of a vehicle attempting to enter northbound SR-99 in the wrong direction from the Avenue 20 1/2 off-ramp Sunday evening just before 7:30 p.m.
Before entering the main line of the freeway, the driver veered off the roadway and became high-centered on the shoulder.
Officers contacted the driver, a 31-year-old Chowchilla woman, and conducted a DUI investigation. She was determined to be three times over the legal alcohol limit. She was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail.
