{"id":9144,"date":"2019-03-30T19:30:00","date_gmt":"2019-03-30T19:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maderatribustg.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=9144"},"modified":"2026-05-13T18:29:26","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T18:29:26","slug":"stallions-continue-strong-start-in-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maderatribune.com\/es\/stallions-continue-strong-start-in-league\/","title":{"rendered":"Stallions continue strong start in league"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"9144\" class=\"elementor elementor-9144\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-26581e64 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"26581e64\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5895de61 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5895de61\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Madera South boys volleyball team continued its strong start to the season, sweeping the Edison-Fresno Tigers.<\/p><p>Madera South coach Steve Guglielmana said the Stallions could have put together an even better performance, but they did enough to get the win Tuesday night at madera South.<\/p><p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t what I expected as far as the match went, but it went very favorable for us, so I\u2019m happy about that,\u201d Guglielmana said.<\/p><p>The Stallions jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first set and continued to pounce on the Tigers.<\/p><p>Senior Christian Sylvia was one of the many Stallions who had a strong, all-around game. Sylvia scored two consecutive points in the first set to give the Stallions a 13-4 lead.<\/p><p>The Stallions scored the last three points of the first set to win it 25-8.<\/p><p>\u201cYesterday we had a rough practice, but after that practice we came together and talked about the mistakes that we did,\u201d senior Adrian Alvarez said. \u201cToday, before we started warming up, we were talking about the mistakes we did and how we can fix them and we picked each other up on the court and that\u2019s what got us the victory.\u201d<\/p><p>The Tigers stayed within striking distance in the early part of the second set, but it was only a matter of time before the Stallions pushed the lead to double digits.<\/p><p>Senior Ruben Jaimez scored two in a row to give the Stallions a 7-3 lead in the second set. After the Tigers cut the lead to two, Riley Maciel\u2019s kill gave the Stallions a 9-6 lead.<\/p><p>Ruben Jaimez\u2019s tip-kill pushed the lead to double digits and the Stallions went on to win the set 25-17.<\/p><p>The Tigers came out more energized in third set. Still, their momentum didn\u2019t last long.<\/p><p>The teams went back-and-forth in the early part of the set, with the Stallions taking a 12-11 lead. From that point on, however, the Stallions created separation and went on to win the set 25-14.<\/p><p>\u201cWe need to learn to go through some struggles and it was good for us to fight back,\u201d Guglielmana said.<\/p><p>With the win, the Stallions improved to 26-6 overall, 2-1 in league.<\/p><p>\u201cWe\u2019re still not 100 percent as far as bonding with each other. We\u2019re still learning that part,\u201d Madera South coach Steve Guglielmana said. \u201cOur volleyball knowledge and our athleticism and our mental package, we\u2019re still putting that together. The coaching staff is excited to see where we can go.\u201d<\/p><p>The Stallion went 3-1 in the East County Invitational before facing Edison.<\/p><p>\u201cAll the hard work that we have been putting in shows on the court,\u201d Alvarez said. \u201cWe just believe and we keep pulling each other up and we can be winning games.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Madera South boys volleyball team continued its strong start to the season, sweeping the Edison-Fresno Tigers.
