Four runs in the fourth and six runs in the fifth powered the Madera National 9-10-year-old All-Star Team 1 to a big win over its Madera National counterparts, 12-5.<\/p>

Team 1 needed nine hits to score their 12 runs. Not only did they get a few important hits, the Madera National Team 2 pitching staff allowed a few free bases with walks and hit batsmen.<\/p>

Adam Ornales led Team 1 with three hits, two runs and two RBIs. He was one of three players to score more than one run. Team 1 got on base early and often.<\/p>

The action picked up in the bottom of the fourth inning. A single by Jayden Roman opened the flood gates as his next five teammates all reached base for Team 1. Three doubles and two singles powered Madera National Team 1 to a four-run inning.<\/p>

The first four batters in the inning all reached base. For the second time, in back-to-back innings, Madera National Team 1 had their counterparts on the ropes.<\/p>

The top of the order proved to be too much on the afternoon.<\/p>

Pitching for Madera National Team 2 couldn\u2019t contain their counterparts. They tagged six more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.<\/p>

Although down by 10 runs, Team 2 battled back to score three runs in the top of the sixth inning.<\/p>

Although they strung good hits together and had a little rally, the whole they dug themselves in from the 10 runs in two innings, proved to be too much.<\/p>

Madera National 11, Sunnyside 1<\/strong><\/p>

REEDLEY \u2014 Sunnyside took an early lead and Madera National Team 1 tied the game in the third.<\/p>

Then, the Madera National All-Stars started putting the bat on the ball and scored 10 runs in the final two innings to record an 11-1 mercy-rule victory to open the District 10 Tournament on Saturday.<\/p>

Madera National banged out 12 hits, including five extra base hits.<\/p>

Michael Lucero got the start on the mound, but he had trouble finding the plate, walking four and allowing an unearned run.<\/p>

Ethan Tate came in and got out of the jam and closed the game out with no runs on three hits with seven strikeouts over the final 3 1\/3 innings.<\/p>

Sunnyside scored an unearned run in the second, but that was all Tate allowed.<\/p>

After tying the game in the third inning, Madera National exploded in the final two innings.<\/p>

Carlos Gomez opened the fourth with a triple to right field. He scored on a single to center from Jeevan Bains.<\/p>

Bains went to second on offensive interference and to third on a wild pitch. Justin Gamiz reached on a fielder\u2019s choice as Bains was tagged out at the plate for the second out.<\/p>

Jayden Roman tripled to drive in Gamiz. Ricardo Garcia chopped a double to left-center to drive in Roman. After a walk to Nuzayh Granados, Garcia scored on an error. Tate doubled home Granados and Adam Ornelas singled home Tate.<\/p>

Gomes doubled in Ornelas for an 8-1 lead.<\/p>

Madera National added three runs in the fifth to close out the win. Zachary Sanchez led off with a single to center. Michael Lucero forced Sanchez at second. Jayden Roman singled and Garcia walked to load the bases.<\/p>

Christian Guerrero forced Garcia at second, but Lucero scored.
