{"id":8158,"date":"2019-04-06T16:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-06T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maderatribustg.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=8158"},"modified":"2026-05-13T18:29:26","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T18:29:26","slug":"harrell-apaches-too-much-for-coyotes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maderatribune.com\/es\/harrell-apaches-too-much-for-coyotes\/","title":{"rendered":"Harrell, Apaches too much for Coyotes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While Sanger Apaches ace Jake Harrell was taking care of the Madera Coyotes baseball team\u2019s offense, Sanger\u2019s offense was doing a number on Coyotes\u2019 pitchers during a 14-2 victory in Mel Parker Field. <\/p>\n<p>Harrell tossed six innings and gave up two runs on three hits while striking out 15 out of the 18 outs. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Sanger banged out 11 hits and took advantage of seven Coyotes\u2019 errors that resulted in seven unearned runs. <\/p>\n<p>Coyotes\u2019 starter Alek Trukki had trouble with the strike zone. He allowed nine runs, six earned on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts over four innings. David Monge gave up five runs, one earned, in two innings. Oscar Mendez struck out the side in the seventh. <\/p>\n<p>Shane Pursell highlighted the Madera offense. He hit a double and then stole home against Harrell for one of the two Madera runs. <\/p>\n<p>Harrell struck out the first four Coyotes and seven in the first three innings while Madera scratched over a run. <\/p>\n<p>Sanger threatened in the first inning, but Trukki cut a runner down at third. The Apaches loaded the bases on two walks, but a groundout ended the inning. <\/p>\n<p>However, Sanger pushed across five runs in the second on four hits \u2014  three straight doubles \u2014 and two walks to open a 5-0 lead. <\/p>\n<p>Madera\u2019s Sam Hass put down a bunt for a hit with one out in the third. He advanced to third when the throw went up the right field line and scored on a wild pitch to Cole Brincefield to cut the lead to four. <\/p>\n<p>However, Sanger scored four more runs in the fourth. An error opened the inning, followed by a hit batter, another error and a ground rule double for a run. A single drove in another run while another error allowed a run to score to open a 9-1 lead. <\/p>\n<p>Sanger scored five more runs in the sixth on four hits and two more Madera errors.<\/p>\n<p>Pursell manufactured a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. He led off the inning with a double over the centerfielder\u2019s head. He advanced to third on a wild pitch. With Nikayha Castro at the plate, Pursell stole home for Madera\u2019s second run of the game. <\/p>\n<p>Mendez wiggled out of a jam in the seventh inning. A hit batter, error and a wild pitch put runners at second and third.
