The Madera Coyotes girls soccer team held Div. I opponent, the Clovis North Broncos, to a scoreless draw in a non-conference matchup at Lee DaSilva Field in Memorial stadium.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s a good result,\u201d Madera head coach Cameron Hill said after Wednesday\u2019s match. \u201cI know we talked last game about how we\u2019ve been playing well defensively. It\u2019s just that we haven\u2019t been finding the back of the net, so it\u2019s a good result against a Div. I team, a TRAC (Tri-River Athletic Conference) team. It\u2019s just good going forward that the girls know we can play with teams like this.\u201d <\/p>\n
After holding the Broncos to a draw, the Coyotes have only allowed 11 goals in nine games, a rate of 1.2 goals allowed each game. A stat that Madera head coach Cameron Hill is aware of.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it kind of just happens that way,\u201d Hill said. \u201cMore of our veteran players are on the defensive. We actually tried something a little bit different today and we were still solid defensively. We might stick with that, but we can always change and adapt.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although Madera and Clovis North battled out to a draw, Noemi Cabello and Mia Alvarez provided a lift in both defense and midfield throughout the game. Both players combined for 138 minutes on the pitch.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey did what they had to,\u201d Hill said. They were winning the ball, making their passes and I thought they were the engines that drove us today.\u201d<\/p>\n
The work doesn\u2019t stop however. With another TRAC team ahead, the team must build off their result and move forward.<\/p>\n
