I St., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.<\/p><p>\u201cComic conventions are a celebration of life, happiness, your childhood superheroes, or TV shows (and) sports memorabilia from the \u201860s, \u201870s, \u201880s to present, even Youtube. (They) will be there on the vendors tables for sale. Basically anything pop culture,\u201d said organizer Tom \u201cZiggy\u201d Star.<\/p><p>He, his wife Lodia and family began putting together comic conventions after attending one in 2016. They decided to use profits from their first convention in Turlock into putting on others around the Central Valley.<\/p><p>\u201cMadera will be our seventh show this year,\u201d Star said. \u201cA lot of cons only do one a year \u2026 We\u2019re doing a lot of towns that have never done a con before \u2026 We have been met with nothing but love and energy from the (Madera) community.\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cOhana\u201d is a Hawaiian word for one\u2019s extended family. The name was chosen for the convention because of the organizers\u2019 intention that it be family friendly and affordable. No alcohol will be allowed in the hall.<\/p><p>A cosplay contest will be held at 2:30 p.m. Featured cosplayers are actor Matthew Hernandez of MCH Cosplay, Redd Ray Pryor of CreepsCreations, and Joey \u201cCaptain America\u201d Otten of Clovis.<\/p><p>General admission is $6 at the door or $5 in advance or with a discount flyer. Children age 12 and under enter free.
