God bless you.\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>\u201cEvelyn Anzaldo Garcia\u201d wrote, \u201cPrayers for his family and friends. It\u2019s hard to lose a loved one. But when you hear of an adolescent that has perished. It\u2019s extremely heart breaking.\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>\u201cYuri Ramirez\u201d wrote, \u201cMy brother (Cristian) will forever be the strongest person I\u2019ve ever met.\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>\u201cCynthia Angel Perez\u201d wrote, \u201cMy condolences. May God give your family peace during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>\u201cYuri Ramirez\u201d replied, \u201cThank you. We really appreciate it.\u201d<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p>Puppy crime<\/p><p>Madera police are searching for a woman caught on video abandoning 10 puppies at a car wash without food and water. An officer took them to the county animal shelter, but not all survived.<\/p><ul><li><p>\u201cIrmalinda Huerta\u201d wrote, \u201cSo mad. Who does she think she is?\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>\u201cKristi Diebert Lakeman\u201d wrote, \u201cThis makes me so mad.\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>\u201cCynthia Angel Perez\u201d wrote, \u201cPuppies are hard to deal with. I know. I rescue. Get your animals fixed so you\u2019re not dealing with this in the future.\u201d<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p>Local history<\/p><p>Columnist Bill Coate\u2019s compilation of news from 100 years in Madera County pleased readers.<\/p><ul><li><p>\u201cJoyce Van Curen Thomas\u201d wrote, \u201cThe story about Thomas Desmond was a story about my great grandfather. I knew about the story ever since I was little. A real long time ago.\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>\u201cLee Spotts\u201d wrote, \u201cThat was a really fun read.\u201d<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p>Homelessness<\/p><p>An Associated Press article about a surge in homelessness across the West Coast prompted some disagreement. Though it acknowledged addiction and debt as factors, it laid chief blame to rising rent in the state, which in areas surpasses that of New York.<\/p><ul><li><p>\u201cFranco Gil\u201d wrote, \u201cThe assessment is wrong. Most homeless people have or had an addiction problem, which rendered (them) unemployable due to many factors, mainly criminal behavior and mental instability.\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>\u201cApril Molina\u201d wrote, \u201cHomelessness is different in every county. You cannot generalize what one county has going on. The rise in drugs is certainly a factor and there\u2019s proof of that in Colorado. What I have witnessed firsthand is most like being the way they are and have no ambition to change. That cannot be \u2018fixed.\u2019 As for the rising cost of housing? Where there\u2019s a will, there\u2019s a way. People don\u2019t want to work and save anymore.\u201d<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p>Rants and raves<\/p><ul><li><p>Rave \u2014 A letter by Michael Pistoresi on City of Madera management salaries prompted \u201cCervantes Ivn\u201d to write, \u201cThank you, Tribune. Hold our public officials accountable.\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>Rave \u2014 Madera County supervisors recently okayed a $53 million-plus health, social services complex. \u201cSina Zuniga\u201d wrote, \u201cYou guys are finally getting that upgrade they always talked about.\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>Rave \u2014 Jasmine Gonzales of Madera recently led the Pacific Tigers cross country team in a 7th place finish in the West Coast Conference championships Oct. 27. \u201cMiriam Gonzalez\u201d wrote, \u201cAwesome! We are so proud of her!\u201d<\/p><\/li><li><p>Rave \u2014 Madera County District Sheriff Association recently endorsed Sally Moreno for Madera County district attorney. \u201cCindy Chidlaw Diaz\u201d wrote, \u201cBest person for the job. So glad to see they endorsed the best.
