Caballero declared victory after her opponent, Madera County supervisor Rob Poythress conceded.<\/p>\n<p>As of the close of business Friday, Nov. 9, the California Secretary of State\u2019s website showed Caballero with a lead of more than 6,000 votes.<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of her opponent\u2019s concession Caballero issued the following statement;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank the hundreds of volunteers and supporters who helped us reach out and listen to voters across the six counties which comprise the 12th Senate District.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe outcome tells me the message and vision of our campaign was the right one for rural California and the district\u2019s voters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will work hard to make sure that the needs and interests of rural California on health care access, education, clean water and clean air, affordable housing, and agricultural production are taken seriously by the legislators and politicians in Sacramento, most of whom represent big cities.\u201c<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assemblymember Anna Caballero today declared victory in her campaign to win the election to the open 12th Senate District seat.
