{"id":3259,"date":"2021-03-27T23:18:10","date_gmt":"2021-03-27T23:18:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maderatribustg.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=3259"},"modified":"2026-05-13T18:23:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T18:23:17","slug":"liberty-seniors-head-back-to-campus-class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maderatribune.com\/es\/liberty-seniors-head-back-to-campus-class\/","title":{"rendered":"Liberty seniors head back to campus, class"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"3259\" class=\"elementor elementor-3259\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-36a1ad83 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"36a1ad83\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-37e63457 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"37e63457\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>After almost seven months of waiting, Liberty High School saw students walking to classrooms on campus and anticipating the return of more.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Liberty High School\u2019s Class of 2021 returned to campus, as did seventh and eighth graders to Ranchos Middle School on Thursday, much to the delight of Golden Valley Unified School District staff and administration.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been planning this since October, if not before that,\u201d said GVUSD Assistant Superintendent Kevin Hatch. \u201cThe new guidance of Educational Services that came out March 20, which allows middle school and high school students to come back to campus even if you\u2019re in the Purple Tier as long as your case rate is below 25. We\u2019re taking advantage of that and jumping in.\u201d<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Liberty had seniors on campus Thursday and Friday before spring break hits next week. The following Monday, the rest of the grades will go on campus, but it will only be filled at 50 percent.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been wanting these kids back on campus for a long time,\u201d Hatch said. \u201cThe board and staff knew that once we got the green light, we were going to open in a couple of days That gives them an opportunity to work out any bugs in the scheduling and the flow of student traffic. They can make adjustments they need to make. When we come back April 5, it open up all the way, but it will be an AB model (50 percent one day and 50 percent the other day).\u201d<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Hatch wanted the seniors on campus first because they were the once that missed the most.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>\u201cWe\u2019re just excited to give them an opportunity to get back on campus,\u201d Hatch said.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Hatch also wanted to note that the 50 percent number are 50 percent of the students that are comfortable with coming to school in person.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>\u201cIn one way, it\u2019s a sigh of relief to get them on campus,\u201d he said. \u201cHowever, we\u2019re doing this in a very short period of time so there\u2019s a lot of stress. We want it to go the way we want it to go. We\u2019re guessing it\u2019s going to be between 15-20 percent that will want distance learning.\u201d<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Hatch hopes that by allowing students on campus this year with guidelines, it will lead to a more open school when the 2021-2022 academic year begins.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>\u201cWe are hoping to be in class full time next year,\u201d he said. \u201cIf we can move earlier than that, especially with the new guidelines for three-foot distancing in the classroom, we\u2019re looking at that, as well.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After almost seven months of waiting, Liberty High School saw students walking to classrooms on campus and anticipating the return of more.
