First place winners received $100; second place winners got $50, and third place winners received $25.<\/p><p>Winners in Mr. Jensen\u2019s 8th grade class at Dixieland were Jaspal Bagri (1st place), Maggie Torres (2nd place), and Sebastian Rojas (3rd place).<\/p><p>Top researchers in Mr. Gandy\u2019s class at Eastin-Arcola were Leslie Fabian (1st place), Karla Hernandez (2nd place), and Kayly Alvardo (3rd place).<\/p><p>Prize winners in Mr. Colunga\u2019s class at La Vina were Giselle Jimenez (1st place), Rebekah Valencia (2nd place), and Liz Agular  (3rd place).<\/p><p>Contest prize funding was provided by donations from Carles Beckett (La Vina), The Madera Tribune (Dixieland), and Pistoresi Ambulance (Eastin Arcola).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nine 8th grade scholars struck pay dirt, literally, just before Christmas.
