{"id":1241,"date":"2018-02-17T00:47:41","date_gmt":"2018-02-17T00:47:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maderatribustg.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=1241"},"modified":"2026-05-13T18:31:26","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T18:31:26","slug":"fashion-club-hosts-second-annual-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maderatribune.com\/es\/fashion-club-hosts-second-annual-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Fashion Club hosts second annual show"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"1241\" class=\"elementor elementor-1241\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6a283de e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"6a283de\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-725c7b67 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"725c7b67\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The world was definitely MSHS\u2019s Fashion Club\u2019s runway for their Second Annual Fashion Show held Feb, 9 at the MSHS cafeteria, beautifully decorated by Martha\u2019s Decorations.<\/p><p>Students modeled the latest in fashion from local businesses, including This and That Boutique, Rue 21, Mi Amor, Ortiz Western Wear, Sitting Pretty of Chowchilla, and David\u2019s Bridal of Fresno as well as their own collections of gorgeous Indian saris, spunky J-Pop (Japanese), and striking Nigerian traditional wear.<\/p><p>Special guest Kimberly Marquez, local Q97.1 radio host and recently crowned 2018 Nuestra Belleza USA, opened the show, while Benjamin Madrigal acted as emcee.<\/p><p>The lively and colorful Madera High Folklorico dance troup, lightning fast moves from Banda\u2019s Kempo Karate, a talented musical trio from MSHS, and the 501st Legion and Mandalerian Mercs provided the entertainment.<\/p><p>The show began with ensembles from the Mock Interview Closet, a collection of gently used professional clothing organized and maintained by the Fashion Club and made available free of charge to MSHS seniors for their mock interviews.<\/p><p>It was followed by spring fashions from local shops and boutiques, ranging from street wear and classic, casual chic, and prom formal. Thirty-five models danced and strutted their stuff before a near sold-out crowd.<\/p><p>Fashion Club Advisor Gloria VanderLaan said, \u201cI like to bring all the community together with the resources that we have and include our students and their talents. The posters, the videography, choreographing their own dances, sound, music playlist, lighting, decorating, even selling tickets create a sense of self-worth. They\u2019re amazing, all of these kids.<\/p><p>\u201cWhat really inspires me is to see each individual grow so that a student can be comfortable in their own skin, no matter who they are, what ethnicity, what shape or form.
