Wanted parolee at large arrested by deputies

Madera County Sheriff’s Office deputy Schoonmaker and Corporal Roth were dispatched to a residence on Camden Drive for an in-progress domestic disturbance.

When they arrived on the scene Feb. 5 just before 6:30 p.m., they contacted a suspect, 33-year-old Eric Joseph Ontiveros Jr. It was later confirmed he was a wanted parolee-at-large with a felony, no-bail warrant from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Deputies also found a loaded .40 caliber pistol in plain view in Ontiveros Jr.’s bedroom.

Ontiveros Jr. was arrested and booked at the Madera County Department of Corrections on multiple felony charges, including false imprisonment, felon in possession of a firearm, and violation of parole, as well as misdemeanor criminal storage of a firearm.
