Pedestrian dies after being struck by train

A 48-year-old male was pronounced dead on the scene after he was struck by a train in the area of Gateway and 4th Street.

At about 7 p.m. Monday, the pedestrian, allegedly, attempted to cross the tracks, eastbound, after the crossing arms were down and the bells were activated. The pedestrian did not clear the track in time and was struck.

His name has not been released until next of kin has been notified.
