While Thursday’s storm dropped some moisture onto the Madera floor, last week’s storm put down about three-and-a-half inches of rain, and was a benefit to Madera’s agriculture community.
“It was a perfect rain,” said Jay Mahil, President of Creekside Farming. “Everyone was done with harvest. The farmers were doing their post-harvest activities. They were putting on weed spray, soil amendments and other. This rain was one of the nicest rains we’ve had in about 10 years. We had five days of slow, nice, steady rain. It wasn’t a downpour. It’s been really nice. We had about three-and-a-half inches of rain. That’s a big number.”
Although the four-day rain didn’t lay down a lot of snow, the water was greatly needed on the Central Valley floor.
