The Linkage Foundation, in partnership with Madera Unified School District, is excited to announce the Student Champion Hall of Fame. As a hall of fame, it will induct up to 10 staff every year that have made an impact on the lives of students that have attended Madera Unified schools.
The Hall of Fame started with an idea from MUSD Superintendent Todd Lile, and details were worked out by Linkage Foundation President Tim Riche’ during the summer. After meeting with retired teachers and other stakeholders, the Linkage Foundation’s board approved the creation of the new hall of fame.
“The goal is to honor our past staff members that went above and beyond for their students and to show our new teachers the level of excellence we expect in our classrooms,” said Superintendent Lile.
The honorees will be announced at the State of the District reception on Oct. 19. At the event, honorees will be honored with a plaque, and then their names will go up on the wall at the district office. This will showcase the current class of inductees and future classes will be added to the wall every year.
The Linkage Foundation is a non-profit organization whose primary goal is to raise funds to fill the financial gaps in education. Through teacher mini-grants, shoe/sock/jacket drives in partnership with Evening Lions Leo Club, grants to support technology, and many other programs — the needs of the students are never-ending.
“Our foundation is excited to be able to support the Student Champion Hall of Fame and honor what is really our most important resource, the people that have worked so hard in helping young people develop and reach their full potential,” said Riche’.
Nominations can be submitted by Sept. 24. For the first three years, until 2024, The Linkage Foundation wants nominations of people who taught in Madera before the 1978-79 school year.
