REEDLEY — The Madera South Stallions went 1-3 in the Selma Easter Baseball Classic this week, but the highlight was Gilbert Moisa breaking the school record for hits in a career.

Moisa had three hits in the first two games of the tournament, and then hit a second inning single against Golden Valley for his 113th career hit, besting Caleb Bertoncini’s 112. Moisa added three more hits to give him 116 hits in his career.

Madera South opened the tournament with a 12-7 loss to Sierra Pacific on Monday. Tuesday, they defeated the Golden Valley Bulldogs of Bakersfield, 15-5 for a much-needed win. They closed the tournament with an 11-4 loss to Immanuel and lost, 18-1, to Washington Union on Wednesday.
