Madera Wrestling Club founder and president Sal Gonzalez had a smile across his face the entire time he was meeting and greeting people that came up to him during an open house for his new facility, the only wrestling-only facility in Madera.
Gonzalez said building a facility like he did was something he had been wanting to do since he was a high school wrestler in Merced.
“It was a moment for me,” he said. “It didn’t hit me because it’s been so many years. When I started wrestling, I always wanted to do something like this. I wasn’t always the best kid. I feel this is doing something right in the community I live in.”
