A state-of-the-art Arundo abatement project took shape in key flood control channels to reduce future flood and wildfire risk and improve water supplies for Madera County residents.
This vital project aims to remove large tracts of Arundo donax, an invasive weed that can grow up to four inches a day and up to 30 feet tall, is highly flammable, and can cause major damage to public and private property by clogging waterways and causing floodwater to overtop infrastructure.
The removal follows a detailed and non-invasive drone mapping process completed last month.
