Letters: The Supreme Court talks to dead people

As we draw closer to our nation’s 250th birthday, it’s worth reviewing the evolution of our revolution. Let’s start with the current interpretation of the U.S. Constitution.

The Constitution is dead, according to the conservative-majority of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). It’s been dead since it was ratified in 1789, except for its amendments. The death of America’s preeminent legal document gives birth to originalism.

Originalism is a 1980s Ouija board legal theory created to allow conservative judges to rewrite American law. The Constitution must be read as it was originally written, like reading Founding Fathers’ tombstones. And only conservatives are entrusted with the secret code to resurrect the dead words.
