We want your photos.
Our staff can’t be everywhere. Community members capture moments that deserve to be shared — school events, local celebrations, sports victories, neighborhood milestones. If you have a photo that Madera needs to see, here’s how to share it with us.
Photo Release Forms
For photos that include identifiable individuals, a signed photo release is required before we can publish.
For adults:
Release form coming soon.
For minors (under 18):
A parent or guardian must sign the minor release form — no exceptions. We cannot publish photos of minors without written parental consent.
Release form coming soon.
For group photos (sports teams, school events, classroom photos):
Each identifiable minor requires a signed release, or a blanket release signed by an authorized party — a school principal, athletic director, or league administrator. If you’re not sure what applies to your photo, email us before submitting and we’ll help you sort it out.
Release forms must accompany the photo submission. We cannot publish without them.
Photo guidelines
A photo can accompany the obituary. Please note:
- Accepted formats: JPG or PNG
- Minimum size: 1,500 × 1,000 pixels or larger — the bigger the file, the better
- Submit the original: Do not add filters, heavy cropping, or text overlays before sending. Give us the photo as your camera or phone captured it.
- Sending from your phone: be sure to send full size photos.
If the photo you have doesn’t meet these requirements, send it anyway and let us know. We’ll tell you honestly what we can work with. We cannot guarantee print quality for low-resolution files, but we will do our best.
Credit & Usage
When we publish your photo, we will credit it as:
“Photo submitted by [Your Name]“ or “Courtesy [Your Name / Organization]“
By submitting a photo, you grant the Madera Tribune the right to publish it in our print edition, digital edition, and social media channels. We may crop or adjust the photo for publication. We will not sell or license your submitted photos to third parties.
Please only submit photos you took yourself. We cannot accept stock photos or images copied from the internet.
What We Cannot Promise
- Publication — all photos are subject to editorial review and available space
- A specific publication date
- Print quality for files below our minimum resolution
