By the time the fifth set came around, the intensity picked up and it came down to who made the least amount of errors in then annual battle between the Madera Coyotes and the Madera South Stallions.
The Stallions won the first set, 25-20. However, the Coyotes put it to the Stallions with a 25-8 win in the second set, and took the third set, 25-18. The Stallions battled back to take the fourth set, 25-21, and the Coyotes won the fifth, and deciding set, 15-12 Tuesday in Joe Flores Gym.
“They had to dig deep,” Madera head coach Meghan Haas said. “Those girls were tired. Their one kid (Diana Moreno) changed the course of the game for them. We had to find a way to stop her and chip away a little bit.”
