Residents who would like to serve on the Madera City Council have until 5 p.m. January 6 to apply for an open seat.
The City of Madera City Council authorized initiation of an appointment process to fill the City Council District 1 seat vacated by the election of Cece Gallegos to the Mayor seat.
If appointed, the person will serve the remainder of the term until December 2026. Council has not made a final decision whether the vacancy will be filled by appointment or special election, as determined in the December 4 meeting.
