City to host Winter Wonderland

Jolly Trolley Winter Lights tour also set

The City of Madera, in conjunction with the Madera Parks and Community Services Department, will host a Winter Wonderland and the Jolley Trolley Lights Tour on Friday, centered at the Pan America Community Center (703 E. Sherwood Way).

“It’s a community event,” said Parks and Community Services Facilities director Nicki Rincon.

Winter Wonderland will begin at 5 p.m. at the Pan Am Center. Santa and the Grinch will be available for photos for $3 each. There will also be free holiday-themed family games and craft art stations, in addition to snow.

There will be spaghetti dinner plates sold for $8 at the event. Hot cocoa and pastries will be provided. All proceeds will benefit the Park Department’s youth sports programs.

In conjunction with Winter Wonderland, the City will also host the Jolly Trolley Lights Tour, begining at 7 p.m. and returning at 8 from the Pan-Am Center.

“We are making slight changes to the route. It will be similar to what they did last year,” Rincon said. “This is the first year the parks department has taken it on.”

The cost is $1 upon boarding and pre-registration is required because space is limited. Register by Wednesday by calling the Parks and Community Services Department at 661-5495.

“They both go together,” Rincon said. “That was the thought process. It gives everyone involved in the Jolly Trolley event a chance to go to the Winter Wonderland.”

Rincon said there is a possibility that they will have high school choirs provide caroling at Winter Wonderland.
