A Tornado in Madera: My experience

Courtesy of Gina Webb, Berenda Elementary teacher.

It was my mom’s idea for me to write this down while the experience is fresh.

Last Friday, I was leaving my classroom around 3:40 p.m. As I unlocked the side gate and turned right to get to my car, a breeze picked up. It blew my hair back. It was a cold, crisp, fresh, breeze, the kind that makes you want to pause and enjoy it. So, I did.

Everything simply shifted. One moment the wind was friendly, and then it was fearful. My hair was no longer blowing back, it was being lifted up. The air smelled different. I heard a growling behind me, so I turned to see what was causing that sound. The sky was darker behind me, it seemed dirty.
