Lock it, remove it, hide it, report it

The Madera Police Department is alerting the community to an ongoing pattern of vehicle burglaries occurring throughout the City of Madera.

While investigators have already identified and arrested some individuals connected to these crimes, additional incidents remain under investigation, and our officers continue working diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Through proactive enforcement efforts, follow-up investigations, and increased patrols in affected areas, the department remains committed to reducing these crimes and holding offenders accountable.

Investigators continue to pursue leads and encourage community members to report suspicious activity promptly. Many vehicle burglaries are crimes of opportunity. Criminals often target vehicles that are left unlocked or contain valuables in plain view. Taking a few simple preventative measures can significantly reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim.

The Madera Police Department encourages residents to take the following precautions:

• Always lock your vehicle, even when parked at your residence.

• Remove valuables, including purses, wallets, backpacks, electronics, cash, etc.

• When away from home, secure valuable items out of sight.

• Report suspicious persons or activity immediately.

• Never leave vehicle keys, key fobs, or garage door openers inside your vehicle.

• Park in well-lit, highly visible locations whenever possible.

• Consider surveillance cameras to help deter criminal activity and assist investigators when crimes occur.

Community partnership is one of the most effective tools in preventing crime. By staying vigilant, securing property, and promptly reporting suspicious activity, residents provide valuable information that helps investigators identify crime trends, develop leads, and reduce opportunities for criminals.

Together, we can help keep Madera’s neighborhoods safe.

If anyone has any information related to described criminal activity, they are asked to call the Madera Police Department at (559) 675-4220, Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP, or as always, in case of an emergency call 911.
