Black Saints United, in cooperation with the City of Madera, hosted the fourth annual Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday at the Madera County Courthouse Museum.
Before a standing room only crowd, members of the Madera community came out to support the Emancipation Proclamation that announced the end of slavery in the United States.
“Let’s make this day a day of celebration,” said Black Saints United’s Anita Evans. “It was amazing to see so many people. We had about 140-150 people. I had about 100 chairs set up and there were a lot of people standing next to the museum. The weather was amazing.”
