This was child's play, really.
The Madera South Stallion boys' cross country team had nothing to prove in Thursday's North Yosemite League championships, but they proved a lot nonetheless.
The Stallions went into the meet ranked No. 1 in the section and No. 4 in the state in Div. III, and ran away with the team title placing six runners in the top 12 and finishing with 23 points to easily outdistance runner-up Fresno Roosevelt, which finished with 38.
"While winning a league title is a honor, we trained through this meet with our eyes on the bigger prize," said Madera South head coach Rich Parris, who has captured six section championships. "Our goal is to win Valley and nothing less will be acceptable."
