St. Joachim School is such a fine institution because it is an intricate part of the fabric of Catholic life in Madera. Many civic leaders serve on the various governing boards that oversee the operation of the school.
Helping to provide the same level of education they received as children, a group of former students comprise the Alumni and Friends of St. Joachim School.
In the preamble to the group's constitution and by-laws it states:
"The Alumni and Friends of St. Joachim School is an organization of alumni and others interested in promoting Catholic education (in general) and specifically in the welfare of St. Joachim School."
Officer of the group include President Mary Pretzer, Vice President Lori Erickson, Secretary Theresa Corchado and Treasurer Kevin Cavallero. Along with St. Joachim Principal Tom Spencer offer support to the school.
They are charged with establishing and maintaining good relationships between the school and the community. Additionally they will foster good will in the community and promote a greater appreciation of a Catholic education.
Fundraising efforts from the group are used to offer opportunities to all who are interested in a Catholic education and to support the St. Joachim School Trust Fund and the St. Joachim School Endowment Fund.
The school's finance committee is comprised of Louise Houlding, Diane Massetti, Karen Bishop and Nancy Rigby who oversee the allocation of resources for the school.
The St. Joachim School Endowment Fund board of directors includes St. Joachim's pastor, the Rev. Larry Toschi, Principal Spencer, School Board Representative Myriam Alvarez, Treasurer Diane Massetti, Secretary Mary Pretzer and Board Members Louise Houlding and Kevin Cavallero. They raise money to help keep the school's tuition at an affordable level.
