Master Gardeners to Host 13th Tour

For The Madera Tribune

The Three Sisters Demonstration Garden at the Madera Community College Center campus will be featured on the annual Glorious Garden Tour.

The University of California Master Gardeners of Madera County are preparing to host the 13th annual Glorious Gardens Tour on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Four gardens will be included in the tour this year, at locations in or near Madera Ranchos, as well as the Three Sisters Demonstration Garden located at the Madera Community College Center campus.

A new addition to this year’s tour is a breakfast burrito, included with the price of the tour ticket. The burritos are available at the Three Sisters Demonstration Garden the morning of the tour.

The public is encouraged to come to the Three Sisters Garden, have breakfast, and shop at the Garden Shoppe at Three Sisters for plants, garden art, and other gardening-related items.

Tour tickets are available at Floral Fantasy or Peters Brothers Nursery in Madera, or at Fernwood Nursery in Madera Ranchos, or online at http://ucanr.edu/maderamg. Cost is $25 if purchased in advance, or they can be purchased for $30 at Three Sisters Garden the day of the tour.

The UC Master Gardeners Master Gardeners are volunteers from the community who are trained by the University of California Cooperative Extension specialists and other qualified instructors. Master Gardeners provide research-based information to homeowners and residents to answer questions about pests, gardening, and landscaping. More information about the Master Gardener program is available at http://ucanr.edu/maderamg.

Christine Balbas is president of the Madera Master Bardeners.
