Cattlemen to honor members at dinner

The Madera County Cattlemen’s Association has announced its 2018 appreciation awards. Cattleman of the Year is Mike Alberta, and the Cowboy of the Year is Chance Heppner.

A SPECIAL AWARD, Friend of Madera County Cattlemen, will be presented to Ed LeTourneau, DVM.

Nominated and elected by past honorees, these award winners are recognized for their contributions to the cattle industry in Madera County.

The award recipients will be recognized at the MCCA’s fall dinner at 6 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Coarsegold Community Center, 35540 State Route 41, in Coarsegold.

The organization’s president, David Gill, will preside over the festivities, featuring a hosted bar, silent auction, raffle and dinner. The proceeds benefit the various youth programs sponsored by MCCA.

THE YOUNG Cattlemen’s organization of California State University, Fresno, will prepare the choice steak dinner overseen by Dr. Randy Perry, chairman of the Livestock Dept.

The highlight of the evening will be the awards presentations.

The event is open to the public and any persons interested in attending the event can contact Michele Lasgoity, phone 217-2985. Tickets are $30 in advance RSVP, and $40 at the door.

The Madera County Cattlemen’s Association is a local organization working to encourage support and understanding of the California cattle industry. The MCCA sponsors numerous youth programs and awards with the local fairs in Madera County. Together with the Madera County Cattlewomen, MCCA also provides scholarships to youth interested in pursuing an agriculture-related field in college.
