It was the first game on the newly constructed Coyotes softball field, still designated as Zimmerman Field, and the only thing that kept the game between the Coyotes (8-2-1) and the Lemoore Tigers (2-5-1) from being decided was lights not being installed on the spanking new facility as the game was called at the end of 12 innings deadlocked at 3-3.
The game was not a tour de force for hitters from either squad as the pitcher stole the show. The Coyotes mustered just seven hits led by Brianna Perez who was 2-for-6, Jocelyn Medina with a double and Alyssa Alvarez who tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run double to left field.
Madera's Gracie Combs took the circle for the Coyotes and after taking a no-hitter into the top of the fourth, got roughed up for four hits and three earned runs in the top of the fifth as the Tigers took a 3-0 lead.
Lemoore's Katelynn Newton also bottled up the Coyotes, allowing a first inning double by Jocelyn Medina before slamming the door shut for the next three innings.
