Robotic 'throwdown' planned
Friday, November 06, 2009
By Ramona Frances
The Madera High School robotics team will demonstrate a modified version of its 2008 project, MadTown Throwdown, on campus Saturday. In doing so, it will not just look back but ahead, to the 2010 national robotics competition.
"The event provides an opportunity (for the community) to see robotics and to say thank you to our sponsors, the people who have helped us," said Alan Hollman, team advisor and vice-principal of MHS.
While there is no cost for admission, proceeds from concession stand sales will benefit the robotics team as it prepares for its next season of competition.
Started at MHS in the fall of 2003, MadTown Robotics (FRC Team 1323) brings students, engineers and volunteers together to build a robot that can fulfill a task required by the annual game challenge initiated by NASA and FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology).
