Festival held to revel in API test results

Parents, students and staff at La Vina Elementary celebrated the school's 774 Academic Performance Index score in a Harvest Festival on Friday.

"You know, I was really proud of us," said Principal Armando Gomez. "I really feel like the community came out, we had a lot of fun, and we got a great turnout. It really exceeded my expectations. It really did."

About 500 people attended the event, said Gomez.

A courtyard illuminated by light strands offered a variety of activities including games and face painting. Food, raffle and game tickets were sold to raise funds for school field trips, supplies, activities and assemblies. Teachers donated gift baskets and a parent provided music with his DJ equipment.
