It didn't take Sierra Golf Management, Inc. long to spruce up not only the golf course at Madera Municipal but also the pro shop.

In just three days of preparation for today's Grand ReOpening, the grounds crews, headed up by SGM greens superintendent Jon Christensen, have taken a lot of steps to transform both the look of the course as well as the quality of the putting greens and sand traps.

A tournament is slated to begin at the course today at 11 a.m.

One of the first things noticed is the canopies of the trees that line the fairways have been raised, giving a much more open look to the course. The traps have been manicured and most have had sand added to allow for more consistent play.
